Independent poetry collection // Swiss author — book cover + full interior layout

Brief & objectives

Create a cover that feels rooted in India’s landscape and memory, but still reads as contemporary and true to the author’s voice. The publisher (self-published) wanted the cover to evoke calmness and groundedness, and for the interior to sustain a contemplative reading rhythm.

After studying the manuscript and her inspirations, I worked with the photographer to find the perfect image that would serve as the visual anchor. We chose a sunset over a river, an image that emanates groundedness, calm, and introspection, matching the poetry’s tone.

Typography played a subtle but important role. I selected a typeface with organic curves and generous spacing, letting the words breathe while reinforcing a sense of tranquility and warmth. Inside the book, I designed a clean, spacious layout where each poem could stand on its own, supported by soft graphic accents and a minimalist hierarchy that guided the reader naturally.

Every design decision, from margins to font pairing, was made to maintain an atmosphere of softness and light, mirroring the book’s title and spirit.

The result is a book that feels personal and meditative, inviting the reader into the author’s inner journey through India.
